Model shoot at the weekend in lovely Backworth, a small village near Whitley Bay. The Model, Natasha, was very enthusiastic and professional throughout. The backdrop of a disused factory produced several very good opportunities, here's one of my favourites where she is framed by a broken window. The blurred grafitti in the background shows the decay. These shots will be used by the model for her portfolio. The red gloves were the Model's own personal touch.

Whitley Bay was the venue for a very cold and blustery model shoot. Fortunately she was made of stern stuff and we managed to get some great shots. As you can see the blue sky makes the day look fairly pleasant however just recognise that it is the wind blowing the hair and skirt.
This shot was one of several taken for her portfolio which she now uses to get modelling work across the area.
The history of Whitley Bay is typical of such holiday resorts. There had been a lighthouse at Whitley since medieval times, and in 1861 it was a coastal village with a mere 300 inhabitants. In the following year, however, when the railway station arrived it allowed easy access from Newcastle and further north, and the population began to explode. By 1901, it had reached around 6,800, a number swelled considerably during the summer holidays. By the turn of the century, to avoid confusion with another booming east-coast resort, the fishing port of Whitby in North Yorkshire, it had become known by its present name of Whitley Bay
